Barry Kronen may not have originally started out working in the designer jewelry business, but he was destined to be a part of it. After traveling the world with his family- his father was in the Air Force and the family moved often- Kronen settled in Florida in 1971. Once there, he tried his hand at several vocations, never sure what he wanted to do, but certain it would be something artistic as creative talent ran in his family.
After landing a job selling jewelry in 1981 he found his niche, but selling jewelry was not enough. He wanted to design. Kronen set up his first shop in his garage where he began to fashion silver jewelry. From that humble beginning, Kronen’s talents began to grow and shine as brightly as the jewels and gems he works with.
Today, Kronen owns and runs his own factory and business with the help of his wife, Michele. His daughter Stephanie is also a model for many of Kronen’s ad campaigns. Barry Kronen received instantaneous attention from his signature Moon Rocks Collection, a rainbow of colored gems in pendants, rings and earrings. Now in business 15 years, Barry Kronen Designs is on the cutting edge of what’s new and what’s now in the world of jewelry.

Born into an artistic family, Gabrielle Sanchez knew from an early age that she would someday be a designer. Upon graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1977, she went to work as a freelance jewelry designer and within three years, she was designing on her own full time.
When Gabrielle discovered Biwa pearls, she found the perfect signature for her metier. These irregular little miracles, as she calls them, not only fascinate her but they inspire her. "My jewelry designs have always evolved directly from the essence of the materials", explains Gabrielle. "Pearls come to us whole and pure, unlike gemstones which have to be cut and coaxed into various man-made shapes for setting. "Only nature's whim dictates a pearl's eventual shape and color. Biwa pearls, from a lake by the same name in Japan, have such a strong inherent sculptural quality that they need no further adornment.
As well as Biwa pearls, Gabrielle uses many other fresh water and South Sea pearls with accents of precious and semi-precious stones such as tourmalines and labradorites. "The gold that I use is just connective tissue", relates Gabrielle, "used to join the pearls- never to embellish them". "My aim is to let the individual beauty of each pearl glow rather than be overshadowed by a fussy setting." Each piece then derives its own special character from the size, color and luster of the pearls chosen, and often becomes a signature of the owner. Earrings, bracelets and necklaces designed by Gabrielle Sanchez work singly, in pairs, or strikingly grouped together. They are neither too casual nor too dressy. They are essential, warm and personal, enhancing the inner beauty and grace of the wearer.

Heather B. Moore Inc. was established in 1994 with Heather designing a number of different collections over the past 14 years. This personalized collection was inspired by a wedding ring Heather made in 2000. The ring had two tags, both with Heather and Thomas’s names on them. In order to compliment the ring, she created a necklace with her four children’s names.
The bright colors and modern design sold all over the United States, but friends and family quickly responded to the personalized necklace, and the rest is history. This is the finest personalized collection on the market, which is apparent by comparing the weight, craftsmanship, and overall design of the charms.
The studio, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is filled with a number of mastered craftspeople, most recent graduates from acclaimed colleges around the country who make the pieces from start to finish. All of the charms are given special attention and are designed and made to the specifications of the individual. Each date, name, or monogram is hand pressed with vintage, turn of the century tools. This designer jewelry is about your life, documenting all that is important and remembering what shaped you and who, where and why.

Celebrities who've worn Hellmuth include Aisha Tyler, Ali Larter, and Britney Spears, who wore a Hellmuth ring during her performance at the VMAs. Poetry hand-engraved onto precious metals is how San Francisco-based jewelry designer Jeanine Payer creates her collections of emotionally engaging yet subtle designer jewelry. There are few things as intimate as wearing poetry against your skin, as many of her clients can attest. Her international following includes Jessica Lange, Susan Sarandon, Mick Jagger and Johnny Depp. Payer has also worked closely to design custom pieces for Meg Ryan, Seal, Sheryl Crow, and Debra Messing.
Growing up in Southern California, Payer was surrounded by an artistic family who encouraged her to pursue creative expression in all its forms, whether it was keeping journals or studying sculpture and drawing. "I believe in pieces having a wonder about them. I like making things that are at once both powerful and private" says Payer.
One of Payer's first creations was designed as a gift: a tiny book engraved with a beloved poem by Rainer Maria Rilke that only the wearer knew was there. Today, Payer's designs continue to be graced with the words of both contemporary and ancient voices such as Emily Dickinson, Rumi, Lao Tzu, Jane Hirshfield, and Ovid. "Each person brings their own particular meaning to the jewelry, therefore each piece becomes highly endowed" says the designer. These pieces become talismanic as they are chosen to mark emotional and philosophical moments in each person's life.
Payer and her highly-skilled team of fifteen metalsmiths craft three collections a year in a bustling atelier in the historic Phelan Building, San Francisco's original jewelry center. The designer jewelry is on display in her retail store, located just a few floors below the workshop, as well as in over 250 specialty stores worldwide including Fred Segal in Los Angeles, Barneys New York and Japan.

Katie's journey in the jewelry business began while studying goldsmithing under Cecilia Bauer. Motivated by her newfound knowledge, Katie began experimenting with her own designs under the supervision of her mentor, Shimon Hirsch.
What began as custom engagement rings and a few special pieces designed for her friends and family quickly grew into an entire collection.
Inspired by travel, architecture and textiles, Katie's designer jewelry has a worldly feel reminiscent of Morocco. The pieces are cast in 14 karat yellow, rose and white gold and accented with unique types of diamonds such as flat Indian river, rose cuts and colored stones. The juxtaposition of old and new styles with eastern and western influences is her distinctive signature.
Certainly an intimate collection, most of the stones used in her collection are hand picked by her husband on his frequent travels to India and Hong Kong. Handmade in her workshop just outside of New York City, every piece is a reflection of her personal style, a blend of bohemian and luxe.

Happiness is free and Lauren Sigman isn’t afraid to imbibe. As a former sales executive with two decades of corporate success, she has strategically and successfully redirected her career onto a creative track that best reflects her nature -- finding joy from art and life in general.
She acknowledges with humor that her artistic interests bloomed late even though her interest in designer jewelry has been with her since she was a child. “After receiving my MBA I thought I needed to be in the business world. When I was younger, it didn’t occur to me that I could follow my passion and have the business come with it.”
Today, she is a woman of vision. “Life in color, for me, means that when you take something simple and add beautiful gemstones, it comes to life. It’s what I try to communicate with my designs.” Sigman states. “Now my focus is on ensuring that every piece I design is as I envisioned.”
Sigman’s positive outlook is part of her core being and certainly the foundation of her design inspirations. After introducing the collection at the International JA show in NY she added the tag line “Jewelry for the Optimist”. Customers kept commenting on how happy the collection was and then one customer added, its wonderfully optimistic. She loved the imagery that created. She adds, “If you can wear one of my pieces and it makes you feel happy how fabulous is that?”

The loving way of making adopted at the gold smithy of Pomellato makes it even more precious.
